“Born in 1946 during a hurricane, I began painting with the guidance of a self-taught master of oils, my Aunt Evelyn, known for creating iridescent effects on the feathers of the fighting cocks she raised for a local doctor. I was five. As a teenager in Palm Beach, I spent time at the Norton Gallery studying and copying the Masters. Beginning with Georgia O’Keefe, I progressed to Monet, Cezanne, and Renoir. Later I discovered Dali which lead to exploration and mastering the Dutch Flemish technique of layering oils. That was a moment when the discoveries learned from my Aunt Evelyn came full circle. I have never shared the secret and I will take to my grave.”
